When God’s Ask Feels Unreasonable: WHEN THE ASK MAKES NO SENSE
• Series: 7 CRISES THAT BRING PROSPERITY
The Crisis of Obedience: When God’s Ask Feels Unreasonable: WHEN THE ASK MAKES NO SENSE “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering…” (Genesis 22:2) We have tried to soften the invitation of Jesus to mean something light, convenient even. But it was anything but that. When He said, “Follow me,” it was a direct call to obey Him, in the moment and completely. We are even told in the Bible that if we do not obey Jesus, we do not love Jesus. It isn’t sacrifice until you give something you love for what you love more. POINT 1: REAL OBEDIENCE REQUIRES REAL TRUST “Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey.” (Genesis 22:3) Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” POINT 2: SOMETIMES OBEDIENCE FEELS LIKE LOSS BEFORE IT LOOKS LIKE GAIN “Abraham built an altar… bound his son Isaac and laid him on it.” Genesis 22:9 “Those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.” Luke 14:33 POINT 3: EVERY ACT OF OBEDIENCE MOVES HEAVEN “But the angel of the Lord called out… ‘Do not lay a hand on the boy… Now I know that you fear God…’” Genesis 22:11–12 “Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns… and sacrificed it instead.” Genesis 22:13 Obedience activates God’s provision. “Jesus humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross. Therefore, God exalted him…” Philippians 2:8–9 True biblical prosperity isn’t about just having money. It’s about having alignment. It’s when your soul is right, your relationships are whole, your impact is eternal, and your resources are flowing to fulfill God’s mission for your life. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 2 God, whatever it is you want for my life, I give my life, my future, my plans, my dreams all to you. Take me and use me for your glory. I’m bringing you my YES for whatever it is you ask of me.
